Craquelure varnish

Interlayer craquelure varnish is used to create the popular crackle effect, that is minute cracks on painted or varnished surfaces.

To apply craquelure varnish a brush is used. By varying the direction and thickness of strokes you can control parameters and quality of the post-drying craquelure network. Cracks in the paint will occur exactly in the direction of the brush movement when coating with varnish; the thinner is the layer of varnish, the thinner and more elegant will be the craquelure network. If you apply varnish with a paint roller, the craquelure network will be fine-meshed and chaotic.

Craquelure varnish from "TAIR" is made on the basis of imported high-quality gum arabic. This varnish can be used as a one-step craquelure or paired with a shellac varnish as a two-step craquelure.
